Shopping in Jacksonville Florida

Many people like going to local stores when they come and visit a new city, so here’s a list of the best shopping places to go to in the Jacksonville, Florida area. It has been divided into different types of stores, from home furnishings, clothing, and bookstores, and a few of them are local stores or small businesses.

The list is based mostly on our personal experiences. However, if there are stores that we missed, please feel free to contact us so we can add your store to the list.

Thrift Stores in Jacksonville Florida

Here are some thrift store gems that are located in the Jacksonville area. These stores have been a great spot to get a lot of great items at excellent prices.

BEAM Thrift Jacksonville Beach

Address: 318 7th Ave N, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250
Hours: 10AM – 5PM Mondays to Saturdays
Price Range: $$ (A bit expensive but not extremely high end)
Website: https://www.jaxbeam.org/

BEAM Thrift carries more high end goods than the ones in the other thrift stores we have been in. The store sells donated furniture, clothes, home goods, books, and more. There are 2 locations within the Jacksonville Beach area, each one with their own specialty.

There’s no website associated with BEAM Thrift, but they are fairly active on their Facebook pages. They offer sales every now and again, with certain rotating categories, depending on the day. Their stores are closed on Sundays, so schedule your visit accordingly.

Goodwill

Address: Various. But our personal favorite is 11160 Beach Blvd Ste 101, Jacksonville, FL 32246
Hours: Mondays to Saturdays 10AM – 7PM; Sundays 11AM – 5PM
Price Range: $ (certain items are affordable, some are overpriced)
Website: https://www.goodwilljax.org/

It is a chain, but we go to Goodwill often to get clothes, furniture and home goods. There’s multiple locations in the Jacksonville area, but the best ones are on Beach Blvd and on Southside Blvd.

The North Florida Goodwill has an auction of the more expensive goods (read: designer or electronics) and can be picked up at their Lenox Ave office in the area.

Hope’s Closet

Address: 651 Commerce Center Dr, Jacksonville, FL 32225
Hours: Tuesdays to Saturdays 9AM – 6PM
Price Range: Affordable to med-range
Website: https://www.coe22.com/hopescloset

Operated by the Church of Eleven22, this thrift store is pretty big. Located off Kernan and Beach Blvd, it has clothes, furniture, and pretty much anything you would ever need. The donations are in pretty good condition and the prices are also quite affordable. This store is closed on Sundays, so schedule your visit accordingly. The store is between the Southside/Kernan/Jacksonville Beach area of town.

Clothing Stores in Jacksonville Florida

We mostly scour consignment stores for the best clothing store value available in the area. However, if you have a local store that you wish for us to be featured or included on the list, please feel free to let us know through the comments below.

Fifi’s Fine Resale

Address: Various but our favorite is at 8221-3 Southside Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32256
Hours: Mondays to Saturdays 10AM – 5PM
Price Range: Affordable to expensive (if you opt for ultra designer goods)
Website: http://fifisfineresale.com/

Fifi’s has a few branches in the Jacksonville, St. Augustine and Fernandina Beach areas. One can get up to 70% off on already discounted prices as Fifi’s has rotating tag color sales. Check with the local store you visit to see which tag color is on sale.

Aside from the good deals on the sales, one can get designer outfits for less when a sale is combined with the clothing price. Some of the items are barely used and are in excellent condition. There are even items that are still new with tags!

One can also get purses and shoes aside from clothing, so there’s definitely something in there for everyone. The downside is the store only caters to women’s adult clothing. One can also opt to sell stuff to Fifi’s for store credit or cash.

Clothes Mentor Baymeadows/Mandarin

Address:  9940 Old Baymeadows Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32256
Hours: Monday to Saturday 10AM – 6PM; Sunday 10AM – 5PM
Price Range: Mid-range to expensive
Website: https://www.clothesmentor.com/jacksonville-baymeadows/

Clothes Mentor is a consignment store that’s also part of a chain. Every store is owned by a franchisee, and the best stores in the Jacksonville area are located in Baymeadows and Mandarin, respectively.

This consignment store only sells women’s items, such as clothing, accessories, and shoes, so not many choices for men. Their prices are higher than a thrift store’s, but if you’re after designer goods for cheap and don’t mind that they’re used, then this is a good option.

Miss Mulligans Consignment

Address: 11531 San Jose Blvd #4, Jacksonville, FL 32223
Hours: 10AM – 6PM
Price Range: Budget to mid-range
Website: https://www.msmulligans.com/

A local consignment store that also sells women’s clothing, accessories & shoes. They only have 1 store in the Mandarin area of Jacksonville. The prices are a bit more expensive than thrift stores, but when bundled with a sale (which they have during holidays), then you can get items much cheaper than retail.

Uptown Cheapskate

Address: 10601 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32257
Hours: 10AM – 8PM
Price Range: Midrange to expensive
Website: https://uptowncheapskate.com/local-thrift-stores/florida/jacksonville/

Another local consignment store, but this store sells both men and women’s clothing, accessories & shoes. Located in the Mandarin area, within a 5 minute drive from Miss Mulligans, its also a good stop to pick up something you may need. In our experience, their prices are a bit more expensive for their items as compared to some of the stores we mentioned above. The store does have bag days, where one can fill up a bag and get to take home whatever fits in it for a price ($20 or less).

Furniture Stores in Jacksonville Florida

This list is primarily consignment stores that specialize in higher-end but used furniture. There are a few new furniture stores, but we are personally not that familiar with them.

Bryson’s

Address: 7999 Philips Hwy Ste. 101, Jacksonville, FL 32256
Hours: 10AM – 6PM
Price Range: Mid-range
Website: https://www.brysonsfurniture.com/

Located in the Southside area, on US1, this consignment furniture store has affordable and unique furniture. The store has been one of our favorite places to pick up unique items when we were looking for furniture for our house.

The prices are a bit higher than other consignment stores, but the associate at the store definitely knows their furniture and can help look for stuff for you. The pricing is dependent on how long the furniture has been on sale. The longer it’s been on sale, the cheaper the item will be; however, there is no guarantee that the item will still be available when you come a few weeks after.

Clearing House

Address: 9365 Philips Hwy #102, Jacksonville, FL 32256
Hours: 10AM – 6PM
Price Range: Mid-range
Website: http://clearinghousejax.com/

Located in the Southside neighborhood of town, in Southside Blvd, this consignment store is bigger than Bryson’s, and also carries home goods. The prices are lower compared to some of the other stores on the list, but the quality is outstanding.

The pricing also goes down the longer an item has been on sale. However, the store does have occasional clearance sales on top of the lowest price indicated on the tag. We managed to get amazing coffee table sets for a fraction of the original tag price. Patience does pay off!

Alter Home

Address: 14185 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32250
Hours: 10AM – 6PM
Price Range: Expensive
Website: https://www.alterhomejax.com/

Affiliated with Clearing House, Alter Home is a more upscale consignment store located in the Beaches area of Jacksonville. Their prices are higher than the other two we’ve mentioned on the furniture shopping section, and the store is a bit smaller. However, Alter Home does sell a few new pieces of furniture as compared to the other two we have mentioned.

Antique Stores in Jacksonville Florida

Bayard Antique Village

Address: 12561 Philips Hwy, Jacksonville, FL 32256
Hours: 10AM – 5PM
Price Range: Budget to expensive
Website: https://www.facebook.com/BayardAntiqueVillages/

Multiple vendors all display their wares in small houses located in this antique village. Each bungalow is a separate store, with plenty of antiques and vintage items to choose from. Parking can be a pain, and the antique village is only open on limited hours during the weekends, which make it harder to schedule a visit to.

Depending on when you go, you may end up with a few treasures of your own, or come off disappointed from the trip. The prices are a bit high compared to other stores that we have been to. The village is located in the Southside area of town, off US1.

Avonlea Antique Mall

Address: 8101 Philips Hwy, Jacksonville, FL 32256
Hours: 11AM – 5PM
Price Range: Mid-range to expensive
Website: https://avonleamall.com/

Located in the Southside/Baymeadows area of town, this antique mall off US1 has a few stalls manned by different owners. While we have not personally managed to buy anything from here, the prices are a bit high as well.

Bookstores in Jacksonville Florida

The stores in this list are mostly indie bookstores, some selling used, some selling new, and others selling both. We are avid readers, and you can see some of our book recommendations on our other site.

Chamblins Bookmine

Address: 4551 Roosevelt Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32210
Hours: 10AM – 6PM (until 9PM on Fri-Sat); closed on Sundays
Price Range: Mid-range
Website: https://www.chamblinbookmine.com/

Located on the Westside of Jacksonville, Chamblins Bookmine is rows upon rows of bookshelves, with stacks upon stacks of books. It looks a bit like a warehouse from the outside, and is located a bit out of the way, but it’s definitely worth a trip. There are so many books and aisles of shelving that it’s very easy to get lost in the store.

The prices of the books are a bit expensive compared to other used bookstores. It is a bit confusing to know how much a particular item is, since not everything is labelled with a price. Chamblins works on set price points: 50% off the cover price if there is no price penciled in the front of the book. Chamblins does buy your books for cash or for trade credit (you get more credit if you chose this option).

Both Chamblins locations are closed on Sundays, but the Bookmine location makes up for it as they are open until 9pm on Saturdays. Perfect for last minute book hunting to keep you busy for the weekend.

Chamblins Uptown

Address: 215 N Laura St, Jacksonville, FL 32202
Hours: Monday to Friday 8AM to 5PM, Saturdays 9AM to 5PM, Closed Sundays
Price Range: Mid-range
Website: https://www.chamblinbookmine.com/

Conveniently located in downtown Jacksonville, Chamblins Uptown is another branch of Chamblins Bookmine. It is smaller than the Bookmine location, but there are two floors full of shelves of books, mostly used. There is a cool little cafe on the first floor, which serves sandwiches, salads, pastries, and coffee. The patio area near the entrance to the store also hosts author book signings.

2nd and Charles

Address: 4972 Town Center Pkwy Ste 100, Jacksonville, FL 32246
Hours: 11AM to 7PM Mondays to Sundays
Price Range: Budget to mid-range
Website: http://www.2ndandcharles.com/jacksonvillebooklovers/

Technically a chain of stores owned by Books-A-Million, 2nd and Charles sells both used and new books. One can even sell or trade old collectibles, video games, and books to the store. There is only one location in the Jacksonville area, in the Southside/Town Center area of town.

The prices are reasonable, and the sales make it more appealing. Certain rotating sales include buy 2 get 1 on graphic novels and manga, children’s books, and every Wednesday, clearance books are buy 1 get 1.

There’s a large selection of books available, notably the manga, children’s, and fiction area, but the non-fiction area is a bit lackluster and cookie-cutter. While they do sell rarer books, you’ll find them up front in a glass case. At least, that’s our experience in the Jacksonville store.

San Marco Bookstore

Address: 1971 San Marco Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207
Hours: Monday to Saturday 10AM-6PM, closed Sundays
Website: https://www.sanmarcobooksandmore.com/

Small indie bookstore located in the San Marco area, close to Downtown Jacksonville. This store mostly sells new books, with a small selection of rare and out of print books. The store also sells bookish related merchandise, and hosts events like author signings. One can also manage to get a signed book from an author from this store.

Bookmark (Jacksonville Beach)

Address: 220 1st St, Neptune Beach, FL 32266
Hours: 10AM – 7PM Mondays – Saturdays; 11AM – 5PM Sundays
Website: http://www.bookmarkbeach.com/

Another indie bookstore located in the Neptune Beach neighborhood. It is a small bookstore specializing in new books and bookish merchandise. This store does host a lot more author events as compared to other bookstores in the Jacksonville area.

Jacksonville Library Bookstore

Address: 3435 University Blvd N 32277, Jacksonville, FL, 32277
Hours: Monday to Tuesday, 12 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Wednesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Closed Sundays
Price Range: Budget
Website: https://www.jaxpubliclibrary.org/locations/university-park-branch

Located in the Arlington/Jacksonville University area, this is operated by the Friends of the Jacksonville library. Expect to get ex-library books but the best deals are during the “bag” days. Pay a certain amount to buy the paper bag, fill it with as many books that will fit in the bag, and all one needs is a lot of time to read them.

The bookstore is only open for certain hours on certain days of the week. Go to their website/Facebook page to see the hours of operation and check when the next bag day is (usually one a quarter). If you can’t wait that long, there’s also deals that rotate often.

Barnes and Noble

Address: 10280 Mid Town Pkwy, Jacksonville, FL 32246
Hours: Every day, 9.am. – 10 p.m.
Website: https://stores.barnesandnoble.com/store/2214

Technically a chain, there are two Barnes & Noble locations in the Jacksonville area, one in Mandarin, and the other in the Southside/Town Center area. While this store only sells new books, one could get deals on books and toys, or enjoy a cup of coffee in a nice, quiet setting.

Children’s Stores in Jacksonville Florida

Having a child does not mean having to pay top dollar for everything they need. Here’s a list of unique places for children’s clothing, toys, and the like in Jacksonville, Florida.

Once Upon A Child

Address: 9735 Old St Augustine Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257
Hours: Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Price Range: $ (affordable)
Website: https://onceuponachildjaxmandarin.com/

Technically a franchised chain, there are plenty of Once Upon a Child stores throughout the country. However, we personally frequent Once Upon a Child in Mandarin to pick up whatever we need for our little one.

Most of their items are used, but they are in great condition, and can be easily washed, cleaned, and sanitized and ready for the little one to use. The prices are affordable, but the best value is if you time a sale and/or use coupons from the company’s reward system.

The company offers to buy stuff that your children may have grown out of, like clothes, toys, and various equipment. You can then use that cash for yourself or opt to get store credit and buy what you need from the store.
